Telus continues its reign as the “old reliable” of AI evaluation. No flashy interface updates this month, but a massive influx of multi-turn Generative AI search rating projects. They’re prioritizing raters who can handle the grueling bureaucracy of their massive guideline documents over those looking for quick, gamified tasks.

The "Factuality" Benchmark

→Evaluating safety, helpfulness, and hallucination rates of GenAI search summaries. You’re tasked with proving exactly why a model’s generated response is factually flawed using definitive, high-authority sources.
→The 170-page bible: evaluations are strictly graded against Telus’s massive General Guidelines. Deviating from their interpretation of E-E-A-T results in a rapid drop in your quality score.
→Multi-turn patience. The AI is no longer answering one question — you’re evaluating 5- to 10-turn conversations, tracking context degradation to see if the bot forgets what was said earlier in the chain.

The RaterHub & Security Gatekeeper

→The three-part exam. Onboarding is a multi-part, multi-day open-book test based heavily on dense guidelines. Failing any part usually means a 6-month lockout before you can reapply.
→The competitor ban: you can’t work for Telus and a direct competitor (Welocalize, RWS) on identical search rating projects. They actively cross-reference platform data and IP addresses, and will permanently ban you if caught.
→Zero VPN tolerance. Using a VPN, public Wi-Fi, or logging in while on vacation outside your registered locale triggers an immediate automated suspension.

Pay & Flexibility

→Highly rigid and tied to your physical locale. In the US it sits tightly around $14–$16/hr, adjusting only for state or local minimum wage laws.
→The AET trap: you’re paid based on Average Estimated Time. Submit a 10-minute task in 4 minutes and you’re flagged for speeding. You must pace your work perfectly to maximize income without triggering an audit.
→Slow and steady. Expect monthly bank transfers (often via Hyperwallet) processed on specific calendar dates.

Growing Niche

→Subject Matter Expert division expansion. Telus is aggressively recruiting credentialed professionals in finance, law, and healthcare to rate highly specialized AI outputs that the generalist pool cannot safely fact-check.
